Overview and Installation

The Firefox Accessibility Extension makes it easier for people with disabilities to view and navigate web content. Developers can use the extension to check their use of structural and styling markup that support functional web accessibility.

Feature Highlights

Test dynamically generated web content using FAE 1.0
Must use lastest version of the Firefox Accessibility Extension version 1.54+ for compatibility with FAE 1.0 "FAE DHTML Report" feature

Install Accessibility Extension from Firefox Add-ons Site

  1. Go to the Firefox Add-ons site for Firefox Accessibility Extension
  2. Click the "Install now" button on the add-ons website

By downloading and installing the accessibility extension from the Firefox Add-ons site you have the option of having the extension automatically updated when new versions become available. Compatibility with the FAE 1.0 DHTML reporting feature will hopefully be available from the Add-ins website within the next month, but there are new requirements for compatibility with Firefox 3.1 and interoperability between extensions. We are working hard to make the necessary changes and hope to have the latest version of the accessibility extension on the add-in site by the end of April 2009.

Uninstall Instructions

  1. Open a Firefox browser window
  2. Navigate on the browser menu bar to "Tools" then "Extensions"
  3. Select "Accessibility Extension" with the mouse
  4. Select "Uninstall" and then "OK"
  5. Close all Firefox browser windows
  6. The Accessibility Extension will be gone when the browser is re-opened
