Dialog Box
Links List
- This list itemizes all
a elements with defined href attribute.
- Selecting an item in the list, by clicking on the item or by using the arrow keys, highlights the corresponding link in the browser.
- Selecting an item with cream background, by clicking on the item or by using the arrow keys, displays todo statement in the Accessibility Information area.
- Columns
- Order - The sequence in which the items appear on the page is displayed.
- Link Text - The text enclosed by
a tag is displayed.
Note: If the content of a element is an image or in case of area element for image maps, the alt attribute or the title attribute of the img or area element is displayed; if the neither is available, for image links, this entry is left blank, and for image maps, the message (No alt or title) is displayed.
- Link Title (hidden) - The
title attribute of each a element is displayed; if the title attribute is not available, this entry is left blank.
- Type - The type of each item is determined according to the
href attribute and displayed: Web (http://), Web (Secure) (https://), File (file://), E-mail (mailto:), Map Web (image maps), or Link if none of the above applies.
- HREF - The
href attribute of each element is displayed.
- (Relationship)
Options
- Remove Duplicates - If the same
href attribute is used multiple times, checking this checkbox hides all but the one with the smallest order from the list. Unchecking this checkbox makess all items visible.
Accessibility Information
- ToDo: Avoid using text links that are shorter than 4 characters in length.
- ToDo: Avoid using text links that are not understandable out of context.
- ToDo: Ensure that links that point to the same HREF use the same link text.
- ToDo: Ensure that links that point to different HREFs use different link text.
- ToDo: Avoid placing links close together.
- The start of the next link must be further away than 2 average letter widths, the average letter width being determined by the current link's width divided by the number of characters in the link (with a minimum of 4 pixels per character).
- ToDo: Avoid using images that are smaller than 16 pixels as links.
Buttons
- View Summary - opens a new browser window and displays the contents of the dialog box in the new browser window, allowing the user to see/print the entire data set.
- Move Focus - Selecting an item in the list and clicking this button puts focus on the selected link, consequently activating the link, and closes the dialog box.
- Go to link - leaves the current page and follows (opens) the selected link, or the first item of the list when nothing is selected, in a new window or tab as per the user's browser preferences.
- Close Window - closes the dialog box.
